An accident in Craven County on Wednesday has resulted in a serious injury and possible amputation.
According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 365 Belltown Road, just east of Fort Barnwell, just after 5 p.m. They say that a man in his 20s was on his way to work and was driving his pickup truck west on Belltown Road. But as he came around a curve, another man on a four-wheeler pulled out in front of the pickup, which caused the two vehicles to collide.
The driver of the four-wheeler, who is a man in his 40s, was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with serious injuries and authorities said that he and may lose part of his leg. There is currently no word on the victim’s identity or exact condition.
Troopers said that the man in the pickup truck did not suffer any injuries.
