Insurance Premiums Affected by Staging Auto Accidents

Ten residents from Pitt County have been arrested for staging auto accidents and this type of activity results in an increase in your insurance premiums.

According to the auto insurance companies, around 10% of the premium you pay is used to cover insurance fraud, which means that if you pay $1,000 a year, you are paying $100 of that for fraudulent claims.

Greenville has one of the highest rates of auto insurance premiums in the east at around $10 a month more than Jacksonville, and $15 a month more than New Bern, due to the number of accidents in the area. On average there are 500 accidents in Greenville every month and the driving is so bad that premiums in the city are even more than other cities like Raleigh and Charlotte.

One of the main problems in Greenville is distracted driving and that together with staging accidents is responsible for the high insurance premiums.
