An accident on Sunday in Edgecombe County left four people dead and another seriously injured.
According to the Highway Patrol the accident happened just before noon on NC 42 east of Pinetops.
Alan Thompson, aged 30, of Greenville, was driving a Toyota sedan east when he crossed the center line and hit a 2011 Mazda sedan, which was traveling in the opposite direction, head on. The Mazda was being driven by 53 year old Randy Collins, of Elm City.
Troopers went on to say that Thompson and his passengers Mickeyla Little, aged 15, of Greenville, and 2 year old Christian Thompson, of Greenville were killed. A passenger in the Mazda, 45 year old Stephanie Collins, of Elm City, was also killed. Randy Collins was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center.
Troopers say the accident is still under investigation but that they think speed was a factor.
