On Friday a Simpsonville man died following a chase involving South Carolina Highway Patrol.
According to authorities, the crash happened just after midnight on Friday at the intersection of Rutherford Road and Pleasantburg Drive. A vehicle did not stop at a traffic safety checkpoint on Highway 124 near Woodside Avenue when troopers tried to pull it over. A chase then ensued which ended when the trooper’s cruiser crashed into the vehicle.
Taylor Miller, aged 22, of Wild Rice Drive who was a passenger in the vehicle was rushed to the trauma center at Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died at 5.30 p.m. on Friday.
There is no information on the driver of the vehicle who was arrested.
There is now an ongoing investigation into the incident and South Carolina Highway Patrol was unable to provide more information until the investigation has reached a conclusion.
