On Saturday morning there was a fatal accident and troopers believe the victim was a hit and run driver.
According to Greenville Police, the first incident happened shortly before7 a.m. on Saturday morning at the intersection of Greenville Boulevard and East 10th Street. A dark colored Honda car rear ended a white Toyota truck and did not stop but carried on down the Boulevard towards the Pitt County Fairgrounds. The driver of the Toyota truck was not injured.
At that point, what is thought to be the same vehicle had a second accident a couple of minutes later, near the intersection of U.S. 264 Alternate and Old Pactolus Highway. The driver of the Honda died of his injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate both incidents, but at this time they believe that the first hit and run driver and the fatality in the second accident are one and the same person, as yet unidentified.
