There were serious delays to traffic in Pitt County Tuesday night following a car accident which led to one person going to hospital.
According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 5.30 p.m. between Allen Road and Frog Level Road, just outside of the Greenville city limits in Pitt County.
An 18 wheeler tractor trailer was making a left turn from Brompton Lane onto US 13, and pulled out in front of another vehicle which was heading southbound on the highway.
The man in the vehicle was taken to Vidant ER with what was said to be non life threatening injuries. Fire officers did say he was conscious and alert but there is no further information on his condition or his identity.
The driver of the 18 wheeler, whose identity is also unknown, was uninjured but has been charged with failure to yield.
