Greenville Man Seriously Injured by Drunk Driver

On Monday afternoon, a Greenville man was seriously injured having been hit by a vehicle.

According to Montcalm County Sheriff’s office, the incident took place shortly before 2.30 p.m. on Sheridan Road near Pakes Road. Stanton resident, 72 year old Albert Ferrier was allegedly traveling north on Sheridan Road and left the roadway. His vehicle then struck 27 year old Joseph Pruitt of Greenville, who was riding his bicycle southbound on the east shoulder of Sheridan Road.

Ferrier did not stop at the crash scene and continued northbound while Pruitt was taken to Sheridan Community Hospital and then flown to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he was said to be in serious condition, although that was later upgraded to good condition.

Authorities went on to say that a witness followed the suspect’s vehicle and was able to obtain a vehicle description and the registration plate and State Troopers were informed.

Ferrier was then arrested at his home by sheriff’s deputies and charged with operating while intoxicated resulting in serious injury and leaving the scene of an injury accident. He was later arraigned and jailed.
