A man has been charged with attempted murder having shot his 4 year old son.
According to Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on Monday evening on Lacy Lane, when 21 year old Travis Blake Carlton shot his son in the chest. It appears there had been an argument between Carlton and the child’s mother which then turned violent and Carlton used a semi automatic hand gun to fire several rounds at both mother and child. The mother then ran to her car to take the boy to hospital but crashed the vehicle on Saluda Dam Road just before 8 p.m.
Deputies went on to say that both mother and the boy are at Greenville Memorial Hospital where the mother is being treated for injuries from the car accident and child for a gunshot wound. Both are expected to survive.
Meanwhile Carlton is being held in the Pickens County Detention Facility and is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, child abuse with great bodily injury and criminal domestic violence.
