Woman Dies in Early Morning Single Vehicle Crash

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office a Honea Path woman died early on Tuesday morning in a single vehicle crash near her home.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said that the accident happened at around 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday when 50 year old Deborah O. Bumgardner, who lived on Latimer Ridge Road, was traveling west on the same road in a pickup truck. She was alone in the vehicle. For reasons as yet unknown, she drove off the right side of the road and crashed into a large tree.

She was not wearing a seat belt and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office later confirmed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma. They also said the death was accidental.

The investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are awaited.
